It’s a shame you went out in a way nobody would have thought/computed.

I thought it was going to be age or negligence; nope! Simply firing up Garry’s mod killed the Phenom II CPU, the old HD6850 card and my 1TB hard drive. At least I backed up important data.

I’m slightly sure that the mobo’s probably toast, too.

To be honest, I was thinking that a random leak would actually fry the unfortunate thing.

I’m still waiting for my closed loop CPU cooler to dry up, clog up or spew coolant all over my case but it hasn’t happened after a bit over three years. At least it gives you an excuse to upgrade? (whenever you have the disposable funds)

The contrarian, techno-elitist ass in me wants to say “silly rabbit, water cooling is for Crays!” I still can’t get my head around liquid-cooled PCs. It’s always a shame when technology dies, but getting 3+ years out of a “modern” PC is pretty standard and pretty good... so if you got 5 years out of it, congrats!

Hilariously enough, three of those 5 years were spent on mining dogecoins, so I may have shortened its lifespan by a chunk.

I’m still debating on whether I should keep it AMD and still be cheap (that does mean no GTX cards in the foreseeable future unless someone made an AMD CPU capable of handling an nVidia card) or just junk the entire thing and start over with legit hardware.

I’m AMD/Nvidia right now. A10 6700 and a GTX 760. G Sync is seriously good but I am assuming that freesync is very similar.
